Louise Tane

Louise Tane – Centre Manager

I have been teaching at Leaps and Bounds since April 2009 and I hold the position of Centre Manager.  I graduated from the Dunedin College of Education in 1993 and since then have taught in Preschools in Dunedin, Christchurch, Australia and England.

I am currently studying towards my Montessori Diploma.

My teaching interests include Behaviour Management, Te Reo Maori, Priority Learners and Working Alongside Parents.

I love coming to work each day, we have a fantastic team of teachers who all bring with them a wealth of knowledge, experience and personality.  Not only are we colleagues, we are also friends who support each other both professionally and personally.

At home I have two beautiful children Jake and Eden.  Eden attended Leaps and Bounds for 3 years and still incorporates a lot of the Montessori Principles into her daily life and learning.

The aspiration I hold for our children at Leaps and Bounds Preschool is that when they leave us for the big wide world, they are leaving as happy, confident, independent children who have embraced a life long love of learning and that they possess the social and communication skills required to build relationships in any new environment.

JoanneJoanne Edwards – Classroom

Kia Ora, my name is Joanne.  I started working at Leaps and Bounds Preschool in February 2009 and have since graduated with a Bachelor of Teaching and Learning (ECE) from Te Tari Puna Ora o Aotearoa (NZ Childcare Association) in 2012, and a Montessori Diploma through Aperfield Montessori Trust in 2014.  I took an interest in Montessori with my own childrens education, and from this initial interest my passion grew.

I have a love of the natural environment and am passionate about sharing with children the joys and wonderment that nature has to offer.

Mel

Melloney Quigley – Classroom

Hi, my name is Melloney and I started working at Leaps and Bounds in February 2009.  I graduated in 2012 from Te Tari Puna Ora o Aotearoa (NZ Childcare Association) with a Bachelor of Teaching and Learning (ECE) and hold a Montessori Diploma from the Aperfield Montessori Trust.  This provides me with a more in-depth knowledge about the Montessori Philosophy and practical life experiences.  I am looking forward to developing this interest further.  I am a quiet, nurturing teacher with a hands on approach to learning, inspiring children to become confident and capable as they grow.  I believe in taking the time to listen, valuing and respecting children along with their families, creating reciprocal partnerships and empowering children to have a sense of belonging.

Ashlee

Ashlee Bracken – Classroom

Hi, I’m Ashlee and I am part of the teaching team in the Preschool classroom.  I started working at Leaps and Bounds Preschool after coming back from my OE in September 2013.  I have always been passionate about teaching young children and watching them develop and grow.  I love to see how excited children are to try new things and develop into confident and competent learners.  I graduated from Canterbury University with a Bachelor of Teaching and Learning (ECE) in 2011 and hold a Montessori Diploma through Aperfield Montessori Trust.

Niki

Nikki Chapman – Nursery

Hi, I’m Nikki and I have been teaching at Leaps and Bounds since January 2013, when I returned to work after being on Parental Leave. I have held a Diploma of Teaching from the NZ College of Early Childhood Education since 2010, and have completed one year of the Montessori Diploma through the Aperfield Montessori Trust.

I am passionate about our special Te Whariki/Montessori blended philosophy. I enjoy seeing the sense of achievement on a child’s face when they have reached a personal goal, completed a challenging task or reached a new level of independence. I believe in providing a calm and nurturing environment for the children, built on respect and care for one another.

Lara

Lara Rigter – Preschool

Hi, I’m Lara.

I graduated from Rangi Ruru Early Childhood College with a Diploma of Teaching (ECE) in 2012 and since then have been working at Leaps and Bounds Preschool in the Nursery and Preschool rooms.

I believe my personal philosophy parallels the special Te Whariki/Montessori blended philosophy that we have here at Leaps and Bounds.  By studying the Montessori Diploma through Aperfield Montessori Trust, I will broaden my knowledge about the Montessori Principles and how these shape future learning for children.

I like to provide a calm, well presented environment for our children and strongly believe that by treating our children with respect results in our children treating others and the environment with the same respect.

Barbara Babbage – Teacher

Hi, I’m Barbara.

I began relieving at Leaps and Bounds in July 2016. I have been working in the Education field since 1990, first in Primary School as a Teacher Aide and in Early Childhood since 2007. Since working at Leaps and Bounds I have worked in all areas and have relished the opportunity to work with all ages. I love every age and stage of a child’s learning and enjoy being part of a nurturing environment.
